Edible Sugar Flowers For Your Baked Goods

This is a great way to get the most out of your overwintered and early spring pansies and violas before the summer sun gets to them!

Edible Pansy Garnish

Decorative and Edible – Great garnish for baked goods!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 egg whites separated from yolk Check out The Hopewell Homestead Egg Separator in STORE
  • 1 teaspoon Water To thin Egg whites
  • 1 Bunch Pansy or Viola flowers Washed and Rinsed
  • Superfine Sugar Or Whiz regular sugar in a blender or food processor or coffee grinder to get desired consistency

Method
 

  1. Whisk egg whites with water
  2. Dip flower in egg whites and let it drip off on a cooling rack
  3. When excess drips have dropped, and the flowers are still wet – sprinkle them with the superfine sugar dust
  4. For good measure, you can put a bit of sugar in a bowl and dip the flower down in the sugar
  5. Get good but light coverage on all of the flower and leave them out to airdrop thoroughly
  6. It's best to make and use them fresh

Notes

Note: You CAN buy pasteurized egg whites at the local grocery store in the liquid egg section. It is not necessary to make this recipe but can be used.
